Kessler Neighbors United is a non-profit, all-volunteer organization. We need your active participation, enthusiasm and sweat equity as a resident of Kessler Park! Volunteering plays a vital role in fostering a vibrant community. Please consider getting involved in one of our committees. Form provided below.
This committee oversees neighborhood enhancements, medians and traffic islands. Duties include planning and implementing landscaping, lighting and utilities. Such projects are endorsed by the City of Dallas’ MOWmentum program, designed to improve public right-of-ways through active community participation. The committee meets monthly and on some weekends for island planting and maintenance.
This committee serves as an emissary arm in building relationships with area businesses and fostering contributions via banner placements on our website. Committee members also support the contribution efforts when needed for special event sponsorships and any arising special projects or funding needs.
Holiday Lights Committee
This committee is responsible for planning our annual Holiday Lights celebration, and for the coordination and installation of holiday decorations on common grounds. The Holiday Lights celebration is a December event that brings together residents and friends of all faiths to share in seasonal music, refreshments and the official lighting of the trees at W. Colorado and Lausanne.
Kessler Krawl Committee
This committee plans our annual premier fundraising event. The Kessler Krawl is a neighborhood social that traverses several homes within walking distance. Complete with edibles, beverages and a silent auction, this outing is sponsored by area businesses and individual supporters whose contributions make this spirited event possible. Its great fun and a favorite affair for residents, friends and guests of Kessler Park! Proceeds generated from ticket sales are used for ongoing beautification efforts.
New Neighbors Committee
This committee serves as our neighborhood ambassador, extending a warm welcome and care package to new residents.
This committee assists with the planning and implementation of KNU’s Annual Picnic, a well-attended neighborhood Fall event. It is held in Roberts Forest on the grounds of Kessler Park United Methodist Church, a pristine wooded area on Turner Avenue just two blocks north of West Colorado Blvd. The main course is provided, and residents are encouraged to bring side dishes and desserts. There is a bevy of activities for all ages, including face painting, balloon art, bounce houses, children’s games, and live music. This popular event provides a venue to mix and mingle with long-time residents and newcomers alike.
This committee is responsible for fulfilling orders that have been purchased and processed through our online Store. Purchases include KNU branded items like t-shirts, hats, mugs and other offerings. Duties include order review, item packaging and local delivery (drop off at local residence).
This committee addresses safety concerns relating to pedestrians, joggers and bikers coursing through our sidewalks and streets. Planning for sidewalks, streetlights and signage enhancements is the committee’s main focus, with many projects undertaken in collaboration with the City of Dallas Streets Department. We welcome your project proposals.
