‘Twas the Night Before Christmas and All Through KNU

For a jolly dose of Ho-Ho-Ho, here’s an adapted version of the beloved bedtime verse…

‘Twas the night before Christmas, when all through KNU,
Not a resident was stirring, except those in need of the loo;
The stockings were hung by the chimney with flair,
In hopes that KNU-branded goodies soon would be there;
Most neighbors were nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of golfing & tennis were toying with their heads;
And Mamma in her Christmas jammies (if you know I mean), and I in my cap,
Had just settled down for a home brew or two on tap;
When out on the lawn there arose such a chatter,
I sprang from my Henredon sofa to see what was the matter;
Away to my Tudor window I flew like a flash,
And saw Holiday Lights Celebration winners collecting their cash;
The moon shone down on the manicured terrain with a glow,
Giving the sense of “community” to the houses below;
When, what to my bloodshot eyes should appear,
But a miniature sleigh, and eager KNU Officers & Committee Chairs in gear;
With a hired driver to help with the lift,
I knew in a moment it must be St. Nick;
But before the KNU hats, shirts & more leaped from his bag,
He distributed 2019 KNU dues slips for all to be had;
He then whistled, and shouted, and called them by name,
“Now, Susan! now, Dale! now, Lila and Carlos!
On, Beautification! on Conservation! on Streetscapes and Kessler Krawl!
To the start of another great year, and volunteers that email and call!
Now dash away! dash away! dash away all!”
