Neighbors Turned Out as Teams Turned On the KNU Holiday Lights Celebration

Wow, what a show! Thanks to our decorating teams who made our neck of the wood extra festive. And to the many neighbors and friends who celebrated the start of the holiday season with us at the annual KNU Holiday Lights Celebration. The event was held on the winning “island/triangle with electric” at Winnetka and Canterbury, adorned by First Place Winner Kim Dunbar. Second place winner in the same category was Ashley Spears for the island/triangle at Canterbury and Clinton. Robby Miller was our third-place winner for the island/triangle at Colorado and Lausanne.

We also had a category for “island/triangle without electricity.” First place winner for the triangle at Colorado and Montclair was Ron Veech. Second place went to the triangle at Montclair and Kensington, decked by Cindy Pierce.

Other noteworthy islands/triangles included the circle at Knott Place, the triangle at Argonne and Montclair, and the triangle at Colorado and Kessler Parkway.

Congratulations to everyone who participated in the Holiday Lights competition this year. Everyone did a splendid job, participation peaked, and more than ever KNU ground was decorated!

In case you couldn’t make it, here’s a recap… The celebration was kicked off with an invocation by the KPUMC Minister, followed by carols by the Kessler School, photo ops with Santa, hot coco and cookies, the announcement of Island Decorating Contest Team winners, and neighborly merrymaking.

Ron Veech spearheaded this seasonal outing, bringing enthusiasm and good fun.
