Holiday Lights Contest Winners

Our thanks to neighbors and friends who participated in KNU’s Holiday Lights Decorating Contest and brought their A-game to our green spaces! You put the Christmas spirit in Kessler Park!

We had 1st, 2nd and 3rd Place Winners for 2 categories: Islands with electricity and islands with no electrical power. Judging was conducted by a team of non-resident volunteers including Ellie Hajek, Heritage Oak Cliff’s immediate past president, and Eric Folkerth, Sr. Minister at Kessler Park United Methodist Church. We appreciate your contribution to the event!

In case you missed the Holiday Lights Celebration and announcement of contest winners on December 14th, Kim Dunbar won first place for both the electrical (Winnetka/Canterbury Court) and non-electrical (Colorado/Montclair) categories. Kim obviously has been taking a North Pole dancing class and racked up! The Winnetka/ Canterbury Court triangle set the stage for our neighborhood event. Cindy Pierce and her team were awarded Second Place for handiwork at the Kessler Steps, and Third Place went to Heather Walker for decorum on the Colorado/Lausanne triangle. (This was Heather’s first time to participate in the event. You better watch out, better not cry next year, Kim!) In the non-electrical category, Susan Via rounded up Second Place for the Kensington plot.

A special shout-out goes to Celina Buchanan and her team for the beautiful work on Candy Cane Lane (aka, the circle on Knott Place), and to Robbie Miller for his creative display on the large triangle at Colorado/Lausanne.

The holiday event was made possible by decorating hands, those neighbors and families that braved the brisk night air and a sit-in by Santa. Again, thanks to all and to all a good night!

We will be hitting folks up for next year’s holiday decor, so get a jump start, lasso your team and sign up early. Contact Ron Veech at holidays@kesslerneighborsunited.org. He might faint.
