President Susan Via served as vice president and spear-headed the 2018 Kessler Krawl. She is an integral part of the neighborhood and has lived in Kessler Park for many years. She has worn the hats of KNU secretary, treasurer and beautification committee chair, and brings well-versed experience to the table. Her resume includes president of the Dallas chapter of a not-for-profit wine education group, and business mentor for a not-for-profit organization that empowers and educates women business owners.
Vice-President Dale Miner managed KNU’s on-line store, inventory and processing this past year. He relocated to Dallas in 2005 with his partner (whom he met in 2000 while shopping), and soon fell in love with Oak Cliff. They moved to Kessler in 2007 and began renovating their Tudor, with attention to historical detail. Dale works with the public, loves animals and enjoys community involvement. His hobbies include interior design, collecting antiques and theater performance. Dale sees KNU as a platform for volunteerism, and hopes to strengthen the organization’s future while preserving the neighborhood’s rich history.
Secretary Lila Belitz stepped in as secretary, after the elected position holder stepped down. Lila also organized the 2018 KNU Picnic. She has been a Kessler resident for 4 years. Her many community roles include historian for the Kessler Stevens Park Book Club, Co-Coordinator of the North Oak Cliff Breakfast Club, Mardi Gras Float Committee member and Methodist Hospital Guild board member. Lila plays Mahjongg regularly and loves to hike and travel.
Treasurer Carlos Nolf filled the treasurer’s seat for the past few months and wants to continue lending support to the organization with his skill set in tow. He was born and raised in Brazil and has a chemical engineering degree. His work brought him to the USA in 1988. He and his partner Tim have been together for 24 years. They fell in love with the neighborhood and bought a house in Kessler Park almost 21 years ago. One of his passions is music, particularly Brazilian “bossa nova,” a lyrical fusion of samba and jazz. On a social note, Carlos has coordinated the weekly breakfast with the North Oak Cliff Breakfast Club for over 17 years.
